The President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, has pardoned eight prisons who are citizens of The Gambia and Senegal.
This was disclosed in a press release posted today, Tuesday, 12 July, on verified social media platforms of the State House of The Gambia.
According to the State House, the government of President Barrow decided to pardon to show mercy on the prisoners in commemoration of Eid-Ul-Adha.
“Following the recommendation of the Prerogative of Mercy Committee, H.E Adama Barrow has pardoned eight (8) prisoners on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha, locally known as Tobaski. Six are Gambians, and two are Senegalese,” the state posted on Tuesday 12 July reads.
