The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MOHERST) has announced a scholarship for graduates in biology.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday April 26, 2023.
According to the statement, MOHERST is establishing a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre on Fisheries.
MOHERST explained that the scholarship aims at contributing towards poverty reduction and youth employability.
“This aligns with the government agenda of decentralising skills education and training nationwide,” the ministry said in the statement.
It adds, “The fisheries educational discipline is highly specialised, and the ministry is cognisant of the limited human resource base in this area.
“Against this backdrop, the ministry is requesting applications from qualified Gambians with a BSc degree in biology.”
According to the ministry, successful applicants will be sponsored to study various MSc programmes in fisheries management. Upon graduation, these graduates will all be appointed to different teaching and management positions in the new TVET Centre on Fisheries.
Interested applicants are hereby enjoined to forward their application to the ministry on or before 30th of May, 2023.
