The Republic of The Gambia, in collaboration with the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) and the Agence Nationale Pour la Promotion des Investissements et des Grands Travaux (APIX), is gearing up for a historic event set to take place from the 26th to the 27th of October, 2023.
The first edition of The Gambia-Senegal Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum is scheduled to be held at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel in Dakar.
This significant event has received the full support and blessings of both Presidents Adama Barrow of The Gambia and Macky Sall of Senegal. Its primary objective is to spotlight The Gambia in Senegal, showcasing Gambian culture, trade opportunities, and investment prospects in Senegal.
Moreover, it aims to foster and strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations.
According to a statement on Friday October 13, the forum is anticipated to play a pivotal role in facilitating people-to-people relations and expanding economic cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal.
“It will also provide a unique opportunity for Gambian entrepreneurs to access the Senegalese market through special bilateral agreements and within the broader trade framework of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),” The statement unveiled.
The event is expected to feature participation from approximately twenty Gambian companies, which will showcase their products alongside Senegalese counterparts.
Hadrammeh Sidibeh, The Gambia’s High Commissioner to Senegal, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its importance in promoting opportunities for both nations.
He noted that “this historic event will be attended by foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations from both Dakar and Banjul.”
With the combined efforts of The Gambia and Senegal, this forum represents a crucial step in furthering economic ties, fostering cultural exchange, and creating new opportunities for collaboration between these two neighboring nations.
