Nigerian gubernatorial candidate, Dino Melaye, pledges to recruit graduates into Agriculture

Nigerian gubernatorial candidate, Dino Melaye, has made a commitment to enhance Kogi State’s agricultural sector by recruiting graduates.

Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State, outlined this plan during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday.

“We are dedicated to the development of agriculture, including mechanized and plantation agriculture, along with the establishment of farmhouses. We will actively engage our graduates in this sector,” he stated.

Melaye also expressed his concern about the state of education in Kogi State and vowed to revamp the education sector if elected in the November 11 election.

“Beyond economic development, our focus will be on the educational sector. Despite having one of the highest numbers of professors in the country, our universities are in a deplorable state. Furthermore, there is a lack of functional primary schools in Kogi State with a shortage of teachers,” Melaye emphasized.

“Education is vital to our progress as a society, and we intend to introduce ICT and overhaul the curriculum from primary school to university levels.”

Additionally, Melaye pledged to unite the people of Kogi State, adopting the campaign slogan “One Kogi, One Destiny.”

He raised concerns about the incumbent governor’s involvement in the election, suggesting that Governor Yahaya Bello was seeking a de facto third term through the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Ododo.

Melaye, however, emphasized his desire to focus on his political party’s offerings for Kogi State rather than making the debate about Bello’s potential third term.
