Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, pledges to restore Ashanti Kingdom’s glory amid concerns of money-driven leadership

In a resolute declaration, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has vowed to reclaim the Ashanti Kingdom’s rightful place, citing concerns about the influence of money on leadership.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made these impassioned remarks during an address on chieftaincy matters at the Manhyia Palace.

The revered leader expressed his deep worry that the cherished values of Asanteman, the Ashanti Kingdom, have been compromised by materialism and the pursuit of wealth.

He lamented the diminishing love for the kingdom, leading to destructive consequences.

“Our love for money is destroying things. People don’t have love for Ashanti again… We have to remember the Asanteman we used to have and rise,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II emphasized in Twi.

The Asantehene recalled the sacrifices made by figures like Tweneboa Koduah at Kumawu and urged for a return to the spirit of selflessness that characterized the kingdom’s history.

“Tweneboa Koduah sacrificed himself at Kumawu for Asanteman, (sic) also buried in the afternoon… A lot of people sacrificed themselves for Asanteman. What are we doing today?” he passionately questioned.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II pledged to take decisive action to ensure the resurgence of the Ashanti Kingdom’s glory days.

He asserted that he would not hesitate to remove sub-chiefs who fail to serve the interests of the kingdom and its people.

The Asantehene’s resounding commitment to revitalizing the Ashanti Kingdom has sparked hope among its citizens, as they eagerly await the actions that will lead their cherished heritage back to its rightful place.
