The Mayor of Banjul, Malick Lowe, has presented a cheque of D200, 000 to the President of the Banjul Sports Committee, Mr Musa Njie.
This was disclosed in a statement by Lowe on Sunday September, 2022.
According to Lowe, the generous donation is from an empowerment initiative.
“Today I presented a cheque of D200,000 which is part of the D350,000 package and 60 balls on behalf of the Rohey Malick Lowe Women and Girls Empowerment Initiative to the President of the Banjul Sports Commitee, Mr. Momodou Musa Njie,” Lowe said.
The donation was confirmed to be a gesture “geared towards the facilitation of the Naweetan league and knockout matches this year which is solely sponsored by the Initiative.”
“Rohey Malick Lowe Women and Girls Empowerment Initiative which is well known for the economic empowerment of women and youth through micro-finance and education has gone beyond its limits to sponsor the whole Banjul Nawettan 2022 which I am so proud of.”
The statement also acknowledged the younger ones while wishing the Sport Committee “good luck and a very successful Nawettan 2022”.
Executive Members of the Initiative chaired by Mr. Macoumba Sanneh and deputized by Honorable Modou Lamin B. Bah of Banjul North were also extended congratulatory remarks.
